The owners of the Kukevälja property wanted a comprehensive landscape design covering the whole outdoor space on their property. Their wish included creating a logical access and network of footpaths between existing buildings, enhancing the property’s entrance and welcoming area, and choosing suitable plants for the area. The landscape of the property, with its south-north slope and steep inclines in some areas, presented some challenges, especially in designing the footpaths.

The existing relief of the landscape combined with stone masonry, was setting the tone for the design. During the design process, the stone masonry was made more prominent and illuminated. Areas that were difficult to access and maintain, such as the root cellar’s roof and the grounds under pool cover, were planted with groundcovers that require minimal maintenance. The selection of plants for the planting beds was based on shades of purple, white, and blue flowers, set as dominants for various types of grasses. New features like a fire pit and an outdoor kitchen were added to extend the time spent outdoors.
