Tallinn Hospital woody plants and herbaceous plants survey
Address: Narva Road 129, Narva Road T2 and partially Neemiku Road T1, Narva Road T34 and T35 properties, Tallinn, Harju County
Area: 2,7 hectares
Time of survey: 2022
This is the site of the new Tallinn Hospital complex. A major part of the area is covered by natural alvar grassland, which are well-preserved. The rest of the area consists of disturbed ground cover, where ruderal vegetation has developed, pushed into heaps, stripped, and supplemented with soil and construction waste from other locations.
In areas with thicker soil layers, trees and shrubs grow in groups, surrounded by patches of nutrient-demanding herbaceous plants. In areas with thin soil cover, shrubs grow sparsely, and there is a diverse herbaceous vegetation, while mosses and lichens predominantly grow on the edges of limestone outcrops. The natural area includes a dry alvar grassland site type, which, according to the Natura 2000 habitat type classification, falls under the alvar (6280*) habitat type.
The work involved conducting a survey of herbaceous and woody plants.
